Hiilite partners with School District 23 and Enactus Okanagan College to create new Young Entrepreneur Competition award

Last week we welcomed Emilia Muscardin & Curtis Loyd to our studio to shoot an instructional video for students participating in School District 23’s Young Entrepreneur Competition.

The Young Entrepreneur Competition is a joint program run by Enactus Okanagan College and School District 23 and has been running in the community for 20 years.

The program takes middle and high school students through three task stages: product development, finance, and marketing, and teaches them what it’s like to be an entrepreneur starting their own business.

The finalists then compete in a “Dragon’s Den” style competition where they can win cash and prizes. The participants are encouraged to look at entrepreneurship as a viable career option and the program helps them understand valuable basic business concepts.

The New Marketing & Promotion Award

Last school year we sponsored and judged the social leader award for the middle school category and were very impressed with the level of creativity and ingenuity the students presented in their business ideas and pitches.

We saw some very strong marketing with consistent branding, wanted to recognize that and so we approached Enactus OC and SD 23 and worked with them to create and sponsor a new award in the competition – Marketing & Promotion.

Hiilite™ is sponsoring the award for both high school and middle school students with the awards dinners scheduled for April 2014.

We will be awarding a cash prize to two finalist teams who demonstrate the best use of marketing strategy in their product or service and are excited to see what the kids come up with this time around.
