3. Know What to Wear
Before selecting your attire for your headshot, connect with your photographer and ask them what backgrounds or backdrops they are planning on using. If they plan to frame you in front of a white backdrop, a white dress shirt white not be the ideal choice for the shoot. After you have some guidelines from your photographer, select multiple outfits you would be comfortable in and bring all of them. You can always perform a quick wardrobe change on site if the photos are not turning out the way you had hoped but extra clothing at home won’t help you at all.
As a general rule of thumb, avoid wearing any intense patterns and stick to solid colours. You can always give your photo a little flare with a unique necklace or your favourite watch!
4. It’s All About the Eyes
Your eyes tell the entire story of your headshot. They can instantly communicate confidence, power and approachability… or they can make the entire photo fall short. Many people get uncomfortable behind the lens and revert to a self-conscious, glazed over look. If you want to come across as energized and strong, you need to turn your inner thoughts to those themes. Have fun with it-if you are hoping to become the top lawyer or real estate agent in your city, act like it!
